The situation started after disruptions in global energy supply linked to tensions in the Middle East, which raised fears about the availability and price of LPG cylinders. Because many households depend on LPG for daily cooking, people began looking for alternative ways to cook food. As a result, induction cooktops and other electric cooking appliances quickly became popular. Retail stores and online platforms reported a huge surge in demand, with some areas seeing sales rise several times within just a few days. In some cities, induction cooktops even went out of stock because so many people rushed to buy them as a backup option for their kitchens. Many families who had never used electric cooking before started learning how to use induction stoves and buying compatible utensils. Restaurants, street-food vendors, and canteens have also started using induction cooktops to continue cooking when LPG supply becomes uncertain. Some railway pantry services and food businesses have also explored electric or “flameless” cooking systems during the shortage. This situation has increased public awareness about electric cooking as a practical alternative to gas. Many people are now realizing that induction cooking can be fast, efficient, and useful during fuel shortages. Even though LPG is still widely used, the recent crisis has encouraged households to keep an induction cooktop as a backup cooking option.
