you can find me here now: @DattoDoesDeadlock @HelloDatto 13 years ago, i started this channel as a way to combat my boredom when i was unemployed, in between jobs in the televsion industry. i simply needed something for my brain to do so that i would not rot away. today, i'm stepping away from destiny and this channel to new youtube projects. this is my last official upload as 'datto does destiny' and anything that follows will just be unedited archive footage purely in an effort to earn some ad revenue or my remaining jez and danielle content, which is being edited. i am not leaving content creation, but my time with destiny is at an end. i have achieved all the things i wish to do here. the only thing remaining would be to stick around to make build videos for ad revenue and i'd be bored to death doing it, so i'm going out on my own terms. i will be taking a well needed break for 2 weeks to do this transition and then we'll be right back to making videos. i'll have videos both of my other channels to talk about my future plans when i return. i am leaving this channel for a few reasons. the first is that i'm done with destiny content and i really want to reinforce that by leaving this place idle. i have made my peace with this for a while now. the second is that i believe i have zero ability to convert this channel into something that is not destiny content. the third is that i'd like to be able to grow something new, not simply decay for the foreseeable future. there are a few others as well, mainly analytics driven and having to 'play the game' that youtube wants me to play, but those are the big ones. i do not wish to play or cover any more looter shooters or similar games. i am tired of the genre, full stop. my current goal is not to try to convert my destiny audience into another looter shooter audience. my current is to find something i give a shit about again and find an audience also interested in that thing. if you're also interested in that thing, feel free to join me. if not, no sweat. deadlock will be my new home, but i plan on playing a bit more variety and continuing to improve my abilities as an entertainer. i will have the rare destiny stream in 2027 for fun, but i can't imagine they'll be more than a day of raiding every 3-4 months. this game has changed my life for the better. 99% of the relationships i have now are because of this game. my life is the way it is because of this game. and i have to thank bungie for creating an incredible experience these past 12 years, for giving me a place when i wasn't really sure where i was going to end up as a young adult. i have to thank all of the friends i've made. this year is my clan's 11th anniversary and we'll have yet another meetup again in seattle this year. it's been a pleasure getting to know so many people over the years. i would not have had half the success i had without all of you helping me in my content journey. i have to thank fellow creators in the space. i know we all had our own things going on most of the time, but i don't think i'll ever meet a group of people so willing to help each other out on a moment's notice. the bar is so high for future creator relationships and i have all of you to thank for that. i'd thank all of you individually if i had the room in this description to do it. i have to thank you, the viewer. without your support, i would be nothing. if you've ever watched anything i've ever done, you are the reason i got to be where i am now. you have changed my life in ways that i can not imagine. from the thousands of people i've met at dozens of conventions, to chat messages, youtube comments and anything in between, thank you for spending your time at this channel, no matter how much it was. from the bottom of my heart, thanks for watching.
